Former Galaxy TV reporter and newscaster, Motilola Adekunle, has explained why she quit her broadcasting job at the television station to pursue a career in acting.
The Philosophy graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said acting was love at first sight for her.
Motilola, who has also made her debut as a movie producer with Ariwo Oja, first worked at the Ondo State Radiovision Corp and moved to Radio Nigeria before finally relocating to Lagos to work at Galaxy television where resigned to pursue a career in filmmaking.

The beautiful role interpreter noted that “acting for me started immediately I left Secondary School. My debut was at the Ondo State Cultural Centre in a Rogers Ofime directed stage production titled Abawon, where I played a lead.”
Motilola added that as an undergraduate, she participated in many in and outside the campus, but her first appearance in a movie was in Basorun Gaa, a flick produced by veteran Adebayo Faleti. “I also handled the props on that set. My second major work was produced by Mrs Agagu, a soap titled Share of the Sun.”
Speaking further on her career, Motilola explained that “I learnt to act from my on-stage experience, and trust me; stage is the best place to learn. I have passed through several directors from Rogers Ofime to Toyin Ogundeji, Afe Olumowe, Uncle Laide Adewale of blessed memory, Thompson Tabi and a host of others. I have been thoroughly grilled but coming into movies in the last year or so, I have been working very closely with Kunle Afod and I have also learnt one or two things as well. She narrated.
Ariwo Oja, Motilola’s first movie as a producer, was released today, 27 July. It was directed by Kunle Afod, the film is marketed by Almaroof Standard Investment.
