KIDNAPPERS IN SOUP: Read What Fayose Wants To Do To Them

The Ayo Fayose led government in Ekiti state has proposed that any individual found guilty of kidnapping should be sentenced to life imprisonment.



The Nation reports that the deputy governor Dr. Kolapo Olusola, presided over the state executive council that proposed the anti-corruption bill.

The state has been plagued by the activities of kidnappers with cases of missing people being reported across the state.


Owoseni Ajayi, the attorney general and commissioner for justice said on Friday, September 4 said the law was meant to curb the growing rise of kidnapping that was affecting the state. He emphasized that during the months of May and June, the spate of kidnapping reached a record high.


He also added that properties owned by the kidnappers would also be seized by the state.

The justice commissioner explained that the reason for the severe penalty was due to the rampant cases of kidnapping in the state. He hoped that the penalty would help to deter kidnappers and their collaborators from engaging in such dehumanising crime.


Meanwhile, police operatives in Ogun state cracked down on kidnappers in the state who have been terrorising the citizens. They were paraded alongside suspected cult members.
