Earlier today the news broke that Marilyn Ogar, the spokesperson for the Department of State Security (DSS), has been sacked.
According to some reports, Ogar was forced to leave over the allegations of bribery and professional misconducts.
In their reactions Nigerians expressed contrasting opinions. Some people are sure the her removal from the position is a positive development and think that Ogar should not have “played politics”. The others, however, call her the “victim of President Buhari’s ‘Revenge Mission’”.
It should be noted that Ogar was promoted under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, however shortly after Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration was demoted and based on some circulating articles was posted to Maiduguri, Borno state. This fact was also recalled by commentators.ку
Merylin Ogar has been dismissed finally, she deserves more than that.

As a Spokesperson of DSS, can Marilyn Ogar be punished for reporting for the Agency? It is not right to punish a messenger for doing her job — Uchenna Paul (@uchennapaul) September 3, 2015

If billions stolen by many govt appointees haven’t led to imprisonment, the 15m bribe paid to Marilyn Ogar will not even count as a crime. — Farriel A. (@Farriel) September 3, 2015
