Nigerian Road Safety Adjudged The Best In Africa

Nigeria and two other countries have been recognised as the best performing countries by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in accomplishing activities of the African Road Safety Action Plan.


Among the 23 countries, Ghana and South Africa were also listed as performing well according to a mid-term review report from the third African road safety conference organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa.

According to Newswatch Times, the report showed that 40% of member countries were in the process of implementing more road safety management.


The report showed that different measures were used to to rate the countries as some who performed high in some categories performed low in others.


The rating however provided an avenue for countries tom identify weak links and perform better there.


The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi appreciated the effort of officers of the corps who have made it possible form the country to attain such status. He also recognised the contribution of the government that made it possible to ensure the culture of safety on the road.

He promised that the corps will continue to perform excellently and maintain the standard of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety Declaration.


Meanwhile, people wept uncontrollably as a trailer killed a man, wife and son in a fatal accident in Anambra state
