2015 Hajj: 4,000 Nigerian Pilgrims Return Home

No fewer than 4,000 Nigerian pilgrims who attended the 2015 Hajj in Saudi Arabia have been returned to the country by Max Air Limited, NAN reports.


Announcing this to newsmen in Kano on Thursday, October 1 was Alhaji Ibrahim Dahiru, the Public Relations Manager of the airline, saying that the pilgrims were transported back to the country in eight trips.

Dahiru said the airline has made four trips to Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, with Zamfara pilgrims, one flight each for Katsina and Gombe states pilgrims while the second flight for each of the two states was on its way to Nigeria from the holy land.


He added: ‘We thank God for the safe journey. Transportation going on smoothly as we are getting full support from the various pilgrims welfare boards, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and other stakeholders.’’

He expressed confidence that the airline had made adequate arrangement for their return along with their luggage.


The public relations manager, however urged pilgrims to give the airline the necessary support and cooperation to ensure the success of the exercise.


Max Air Ltd earlier transported 35,567 pilgrims to the holy land for this year’s Hajj.


Meanwhile Alhaji Abdullahi Muktar Mohammed, the chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), on Monday, September 28, confirmed that 57 Nigerians have died in the stampede at Mina, Saudi Arabia, during this year’s Hajj.
