How My Brother Was Moved From Nyanya Hospital To National Hospital- Bomb Blast Victims Brother Speaks

Prior to the twin bomb blasts that claimed some lives at the Kuje area and Nyanya market in Abuja on Friday night, Naij.com reporters met with some of the victims families at the National Hospital.

Abdulahi Umar, a plumber, is a brother to one of the Nyanya bomb blast victims named Umar AdamuHe said when he heard that Adamu was affected in the bomb blast, he went to the Nyanya hospital to check for his injured brother who is an okrika seller at the Nyanya market but was not granted entry by the hospital security officials.

By the time he came back in the morning, his brother had already been moved to the National hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

He said: “Yesterday night around 10pm. I went to Nyanya hospital first when i heard of the blast last night and they did not let us in. So when we went in this morning when they finally let us in, we searched for his name and address, then went to Asokoro hospital and checked but he wasn’t there, so we ended up checking National Hospital and realised that he was moved to the National hospital.

“That was how i found out he was transferred him to National Hospital. We realised he was in coma. His neck, his right rib and left arm are affected. He can’t talk or say anything but he remembers people when he sees them. The doctor did not allow us see him. But he is getting better.

“My brother, Adamu  had just come back from the sallah celebration barely two days ago and then this has happened. He has a pregnant wife and a daughter. He is a very nice person so i don’t want anything to happen to him.

Furthermore, he disclosed that this is his third close relations affected in the blast. He also expressed his appreciation towards the National Emergency Management AgencyNEMA for their urgency in the matter.

“We are very appreciative of NEMA. They were there on time to save my brother. Also the Nigerian army and police. Immediately it happened they were there, “he said.

Also, Adams Muhammed, a mechanic, who could barely speak with Naij.com reporters because he was in tears said he has been waiting in the hospital all morning for his friend, Muhammed Shaibu who was affected.

He said he is happy for his life because he would have been in that blast and missed it by minutes because he left.

“I had just left before i was called that a blast had just gone off at the market. I am a mechanic opposite the market. I went to Nyanya hospital yesterday before i was directed here.

When asked about the condition of his friend in the hospital, he broke down and said “his condition is very bad. His head is affected and it is really bad but thank God he is alive.

“He has seen me but cant talk. They have not told me how many days he will be here for,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, some families are still trooping in and out of the hospital to find out information about their family members affected in the blast and if they were brought to that hospital.
